In a production facility with 12,000 m² of indoor area, the old conventional system was gradually converted to an addressable system without ever stopping production.
The facility's existing conventional fire detection system had aged: it generated frequent false alarms, fault points could not be pinpointed, and new zones could not be added as the facility grew. The most critical constraint was that production, running in 3 shifts, could not be stopped at any stage.
We prepared a phased transition plan that converted the system zone by zone, loop by loop. The new addressable panel temporarily ran in parallel with the old system; as each zone was commissioned, the old line was removed. Beam detectors were used in high-ceiling warehouse sections and heat-resistant detectors on the production lines. The system was integrated with the emergency public address and smoke evacuation systems.
More than 450 detection points were consolidated on a single addressable panel; faults are now reported at point level. Production never stopped during the transition, and the false alarm rate dropped to zero. The facility is protected under a periodic maintenance contract.
